BEIJING: An explosion in a northern Chinese city – Yulin – on Monday killed seven people and injuring several more.
According to the media reports, the blast destroyed nearby buildings – including a hospital. Officials believe that the blast may have been caused by explosives illegally stored in the building.
The official Xinhua news agency said that dozens of firefighters were sent to the scene in Shaanxi province, and rescuers were hunting for survivors who may be trapped in the rubble. “At least 94 people have been hospitalised and seven have died so far,” officials said. Industrial accidents are common in China as safety regulations are often ignored.
