Actress Laura Dern to narrate new ‘Little Women’ audiobook ahead of Christmas

Author: Agencies

Dern will portray the matriarch Marmee in the upcoming film adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, which will arrive in theaters on Christmas Day.

This holiday season, fans of the Marches will also be able to follow the adventures of Meg, Amy, Jo and Beth in a new audiobook of “Little Women.”

The two-volume literary classic will notably be narrated by Dern, who will voice late author Louisa May Alcott.

The award-winning actress will be joined by a supporting cast composed of Emily Bauer, Lauren Fortgang, Allison Hiroto, Carly Robins and Suzanne Toren.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the audiobook will debut on Audible a few days ahead of Greta Gerwig’s film adaptation on December 23.

“Being part of ‘Little Women’ has completely converted me into an Audible addict! I’ve fallen in love with audio — it’s a completely different acting experience. Audio is fantastic in its ability to let stories resonate through the voice alone. It’s so private and intimate, you share the humor, irreverence and bravery of the writing with the listener in such a personal way,” Dern said in a statement.

In addition to Dern, the new film adaptation of “Little Women” will star Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Eliza Scanlen and Florence Pugh as the four March sisters. Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep and Chris Cooper will also join the cast of the film, which is described as one of the buzziest contenders for the 2020 Academy Award for Best Picture.

The 1994 take on Alcott’s coming-of-age novel landed three Oscar nominations (“Best Actress,” “Best Costume Design” and “Best Original Score”), but did not bring any statuette home.

Other movies rumored to be vying for a spot on the list for the Oscars’ top trophy include Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman,” Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story,” and “Bombshell” starring Charlize Theron.
