We refuse to prop Nawaz up anymore: Latif Khosa

ISLAMABAD: The leadership of Pakistan People’s Party has termed the Sharif brothers unreliable and refused either to hold any kind of negotiations or provide any assistance to Nawaz Sharif in the future. This was stated by PPP General Secretary Sardar Latif Khosa while talking to Daily Times. He made it clear to the Sharif brothers that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should resign in a joint session of the parliament and a new PM should be appointed from his own party for strengthening democracy.

“Nawaz Sharif’s departure is written on the wall. We cannot offer our shoulder to save his regime every time. Now the resignation of Nawaz Sharif would be the victory of democracy,” he added. He said that though the Supreme Court would hear the petitions on Panama leaks, the parliament has prerogative of legislation and current laws are not enough to deal with the Panama leaks. The new inquiry act for accountability process in this regard is the need of the hour. Through new legislation, democracy would be reinforced and new traditions would be created, making the country prosperous.

“The tendency to shoot themselves in the foot is an old habit of the Sharif brothers. They are self sufficient in their decline. They hatched a conspiracy to malign the Pak Army by getting published a false news article deliberately. It is a bigger scam than Memogate,” he added, saying that the government had increased its opponents by adding in the list Maulana Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed Ahmed by publishing the news against the army.

The former governor said that General Raheel Sharif was a great soldier who advanced the Zarb-i-Azb operation against terrorism in a befitting manner. “But instead of giving credit to him, some people are defaming him in the world by declaring him a rogue general, which is highly condemnable. How can the leadership of PPP show confidence in Nawaz Sharif as when he is in need, he begs for help, but after fulfilling his purpose, goes back on his word?” thundered Latif Khosa.

The PPP leader said that the martyrs of Model Town were yet to receive justice. The matter of Panama leaks was in the media as well as on the road for the last seven months. He said that the matter of electoral reforms is ignored by the rulers intentionally, whereas the Supreme Court, in its decision, has pointed out myriad flaws and bottlenecks in the system, but the government did not take any action on it.
