ISLAMABAD: The federal government has reportedly tasked the capital police to launch a massive crackdown on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership in order to prevent the party’s planned siege of Islamabad on November 2.
Sources told Daily Times that the station house officers (SHO) of all 22 police stations in the capital have been ordered to take into custody at least five top leaders of the PTI and shift them to some ‘secret locations’ so that the party workers could not find them during the protest.
The SHOs have also been asked to make arrangements for hosting five very important persons (VIPs), they said.
For this, the SHOs of Shalimar, Koral, Kohsar, Bani Gala, Secretariat, Khanna, Shahzad Town, Noon, Margalla, Tarnol, Sihala, Lohi Bher, Sabzi Mandi, Ramna, Kahuta, Golra, Karachi Company and Women police stations have started a hunt for private residences to house the PTI leadership.
Sources told this scribe that the authorities had already acquired many houses in the vicinities of Ghauri Town, Bhara Kahu, Tarnol, Bani Gala, Shahzad Town and Khanna, and sent a report to their high-ups in this regard. Reliable sources told this scribe that the police have prepared a plan to arrest at least 150 top leaders of the PTI and their aides, including Awami Muslim League Chairman Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed.
