ISLAMABAD: Pakistan recorded a strong protest with Indian and the UN Military Observers Group as Indian forces continued unprovoked firing on Working Boundary on Tuesday.
Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh was also summoned in this regard. The firing resulted in the martyrdom of two civilians, including one-and-a-half-year-old girl. Six civilians were also injured as a result of the Indian shelling.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Spokesman Lt General Asim Bajwa, Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing on Line of Control and Working Boundary in Bhimber and Chuprar sectors respectively. Pakistani troops gave a befittingly response to the Indian firing.
A strong protest was launched with UNMOGIP regarding unprovoked firing by Indians on working boundary, he said. It was conveyed to the Indian side that it should investigate the incident and share the findings with Pakistan, instruct its troops to respect the Ceasefire in letter and spirit, refrain from intentionally targeting the villages and maintain peace on the Working Boundary, he concluded.
