Quetta-like cowardly incidents can’t weaken us: CM

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Police Training Centre Quetta and expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives.

The chief minister paid tributes to the police personnel martyred in the attack and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families. He also prayed for early recovery of the injured police officials. He said that the attack on Police training school was a tragedy and every Pakistani was aggrieved over this incident. He said terrorists could not weaken resolve of the nation for elimination of terrorism through such cowardly acts.

He said the whole nation was united against terrorism and sacrifices in the war on terror would bear fruits. He said those rendering sacrifices for elimination of terrorism and restoration of peace were heroes of the nation and the people were proud of those who bravely faced terrorists without caring for their lives and embraced martyrdom for peace in the country.

“The Quetta carnage has strengthened our resolve against terrorism and the nation will move forward in the war against terrorism with greater determination and commitment,” he said, adding that unity and harmony was the real strength of nation against the scourge of terrorism.

He said the nation would have to display solidarity in the interest of the country and security of future generations. He said the Punjab government and the people of the province fully shared the grief of the families of police martyrs.

Meanwhile, the Punjab chief minister Tuesday presided over a meeting of Provincial Cabinet Committee on Law and Order.

The meeting strongly condemned terrorist attack on Quetta Police Training Centre and expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives. The participants of the meeting paid tributes to the sacrifices of martyrs and expressed sympathies and condolence with the bereaved families.

He directed authorities to take all necessary measures for protection of life and property of people and police. He said that a vigilant eye should be kept on miscreants and security of important places should be further improved.

The chief minister said that full attention should be paid to security of mosques, imambargahs, worship places, educational institutions and parks. He said that institutions concerned should perform their duties with mutual coordination to foil the nefarious designs of enemies. Law and order situation in the province was also reviewed in the meeting.
