LAHORE: Following the multiple terrorist attacks in Quetta and Parachinar the other day, the city police have chalked out a security for Eid.
Under the plan, more than 15,000 police officers and officials would be deployed across the provincial capital to avoid any untoward incident. The city police also declared 350 eidgahs, mosques, imambargahs sensitive across the city.
Police contingents equipped with sophisticated weapons deployed in different areas of the city have been put on high alert to cope with any untoward incident during Eid, besides ensuring round-the-clock patrolling.
Personnel of Elite Force, Mujahid Force, Quick Response Force, Dolphin Force, Police Response Unit (PRU) and other law enforcement agencies would also assist police in patrolling the city’s streets.
Policemen and officials have been directed to keep a vigilant eye on all crowded places in their respective areas. Besides, sniffer dogs would also be used to detect drugs and explosive materials in sensitive areas.
Sources said that the police high ups have passed on directives to police officials to ensure patrolling in their respective areas and pay surprise visits to police pickets set up within their areas. “Upon receiving directions, all police officers concerned have passed on orders to all station house officers (SHOs) to ensure the implementation of the security plan in letter and spirit and stay guard at important religious places, markets, bazaars and other public places.
The decision to this effect was taken at a high profile meeting of senior police officers held to chalk out a foolproof security plan to ensure law and order in the city during Eid.
All divisional superintendents of police (SPs), assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) and deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) from both the operations and investigation wings attended the meeting.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Captain (r) Amin Wains said that around 15,000 police officials would remain alert in the provincial metropolis while all divisional SPs would patrol their respective areas to ensure peace. The CCPO also appealed to the religious leaders and citizens to completely cooperate with police to make its security plan a success.
The CCPO said that at least 20 SPs, 50 DSPs, 84 SHOs and policewomen would perform security duties at all important religious places, markets and other areas.
While addressing a meeting of senior police officers here on Saturday, he said that the city police would leave no stone unturned in protecting the life and property of Lahoris.
The CCPO said that special mobile squads would also patrol the different areas of the city. He directed police officers to continue search and combing operations in the city on a daily basis.
He said that police had been directed to deal with lawbreakers and miscreants with an iron hand. He said that the police emergency No 15 would also remain on high alert.
He directed divisional SPs to search vehicles and frisk passengers at bus stands and railway stations.
Similarly, the City Traffic Police has also made finalised a three-day traffic plan for Eid.
According to the plan, two SPs, 12 DSPs, 116 inspectors, 121 lady traffic wardens and 3,000 traffic wardens will perform duty under the supervision of divisional officers.
