ISLAMABAD: The people of Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) observed October 27 as Black Day on Thursday to convey a message to the international community that India’s occupation of Kashmir’s territory was totally illegal, unjust and contrary to the Kashmiris’ aspirations.

The day was marked as a Black Day to protest against India which sent its troops to Srinagar on October 27, 1947 and illegally occupied Jammu Kashmir. Protest rallies and demonstrations were held across the country and AJK. The people expressed solidarity with their brethren and vowed to provide moral, political and diplomatic support till the liberation of Indian-held Kashmir from the Indian clutches.

Radio Pakistan aired special programmes to express solidarity with Kashmiris on the occasion of Black Day against Indian occupation of their motherland on this day. Rallies, meetings and seminars across Pakistan were held to highlight significance of the day for Kashmiri people. Talking to APP, minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Ch Muhammad Barjees Tahir said that Pakistan would continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to the Kashmiris.

He said that Pakistan had already exposed the Indian armed forces’ atrocities in IHK at all international forums. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif – during his recent address to the United Nations General Assembly – effectively presented Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir issue and highlighted the right to self-determination of the Kashmiris, he added.

Barjees said that Pakistan had a clear stance that without the resolution of Kashmir issue, sustainable peace was not possible in the region.
