ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday called for a countrywide protest against police’s raid at a youth convention of his party.
“We’re going to protest all over Pakistan tomorrow,” Khan said and asked all the party workers to protest all over the country from tomorrow (Friday) – against the police crackdown.
He said that the November 2 protest will now be the biggest event after what happened at youth convention. “The Islamabad high court (IHC) allowed us to protest and it is our right. Now we’ll protest no matter what the government throws at us,” he said.
He said he was confident that a more charged up crowd would come out on Nov 2. “I’m going for jalsa tomorrow in Pindi then arrest me under Sec 144,” he said and later talking to on a TV programme, Khan also warned of severe public backlash if the government arrested him.
Police on Thursday arrested over 100 workers of the PTI as they gathered in Sector E-11 area to attend a Youth Convention ahead of party’s planned “lockdown” of the federal capital and hours after IHC’s order.
