Pakistan sharing anti-terror skills for world peace: COAS

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif Thursday witnessed Pak-China military exercise at the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Pabbi Speaking on the occasion, the COAS said Pakistan was sharing its experience with the world for the benefit of humanity. “We are sharing our experiences with the world for the benefit of humanity and as an obligation towards international peace,” said the army chief while talking to troops participating in joint exercise YOUYI-VI 2016. The two-week long exercise is focused on counter-terrorism operations and sharing of field combat experiences of the two armed forces, said a spokesman for the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The COAS congratulated all participants of the exercise for displaying high level of professionalism and combat skills. “Such exercises will consolidate our special relationship with Chinese armed forces and will help us to eliminate terrorism from the region,” the COAS said. Lieutenant General Umar Farooq Durrani and Training and Evaluation Inspector General Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa were also present. Meanwhile, Qatar Minister for Defence Affairs Dr Khalid Bin Muhammad Al Attiyah on Thursday called on COAS General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters. Matters of mutual interest including defence and security cooperation came under discussion during the meeting, said an ISPR statement. The visiting dignitary acknowledged Pakistan’s successes in war on terror and efforts for regional peace and stability. Earlier on arrival at the GHQ, the minister laid wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.
