PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government has once again shown its incompetence in dealing with the affairs of government matters related to health-care services delivery.
According to reliable sources, in the recent appointments of Directors and Additional Directors at KP Healthcare Commission (KPHCC), gross irregularities were found and the selection criteria was tailor-made to benefit some blue-eyed people, while depriving others.
Among the candidates selected, the most controversial is the selection of Director Business Support who happens to be close relative of the Chairman Board of Governors (BoG) of KPHCC.
Majority of candidates have shown their deep concerns and consider it a dilemma for the poor province in which government bodies are in sorry state of affairs and denying equal opportunities to deserving candidates including PhD from abroad who are declined and people with one year diplomas were preferred.
A source revealed that a candidate who had PhD degree from a foreign university and had fifteen years of experience in the department concerned but he was not selected for the post.
The source added that a two month diploma course was given more than 15 marks while the PhD was given only seven marks.
National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) training was also given numbers in the interview and ironically those courses were also included in the criteria which were for armed forces, said the source, who wished to remain anonymous.
The source said that affected candidates were weighing their options and might move the court to seek justice against the injustices. They might seek revision of the criteria and process of selection so that candidates were selected according to their abilities, qualification and merit.
On the other hand, KPHCC Director Asif Naved rejected the allegations and said the recruitments and selections were made purely on merit.
To a query about the son in law of BOG chairman, who was selected, the director said that he had no knowledge of such recruitment. He added that criteria were different for each post and it was available on the department’s website as well as in the newspaper advertisement.
About the NIPA course and other military courses for the post the director KPHCC said that these were not only one post but there were director, chief executive officers and other posts for the entire province.
