ISLAMABAD: PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto have not attended an all-party conference being headed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence in Islamabad.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ahsan Iqbal announced on Monday that party president Shehbaz Sharif will not attend the all parties conference, and the party delegation will instead be lead by former NA speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
Iqbal made the announcement after the PML-N decided to throw its full support behind the JUI-F led Azadi March. Ahsan was speaking to the media after a party meeting held under PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s chairmanship ended in Lahore.
Iqbal added that the PML-N’s point of view will be presented before the Rehbar committee, adding that opposition should stand on a united platform in their struggle against the government.
Iqbal further said that PML-N would continue to play its role in line with the political vision of Nawaz Sharif. “Opposition parties fully participated in the Azadi March. We will actively extend our political support for Azadi march.”
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will not be attending the APC as he is holding a rally in South Punjab. According to sources, party leaders Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Nayyar Bukhari, Naveed Qamar and Farhatullah Babar will be in attendance.
