KP to approach PHC for due share in CPEC

PESHAWAR: Irked by the unconstitutional change in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and raising demands of the opposition benches in the provincial assembly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government has decided to approach court for due share in the billions dollars project of CPEC.

The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting at provincial assembly secretariat which was attended by senior leaders of the Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Qawmi Watan Party (QWP) and ruling party members.

The provincial government with the support of its coalition partner in the government would submit a writ petition in the Peshawar High Court.

The responsibility to prepare a draft in the light of Article 184 of the constitutional of Pakistan were given with mutual consent of the members to Advocate General Latif Yousifzai and ex-Supreme Court Bar president and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Pakistan (PTI) Qazi Anwar.

The members through a formal notification demanded from the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Government in the center and China government to clear the illusion and reservation regarding the construction of the western route. Provincial Assembly Speaker Asad Qasir called for political unity on the occasion and urged the political parties in the opposition to back the stance of the PTI Government above the party biasness. He said that until the provincial political parties extend its support in the constitution battle for the line share in the CPEC the ruling government in the province could not be successful in its designed.

Senior lawyer Qazi Anwar Qazi Anwar said that federal government must apprehend the reservation of the province and clear the mystery of the Western rout, adding that sense of deprivation rising in the small federating units of the country regarding the billions dollars project share.

Senior minister of KP Anayatullah Khan who was representing JI in the meeting said that the people of the KP demands from the legislatives body of the province to ensure their due rights in the historical projects. He said that time has come to address the reservation of the most affected province through proper implementation of CPEC. Asad Qaiser said that federal government can deceive the provincial leadership by making lame excuse in the implementation of the Western route. He said the provincial assembly of KP had passed five resolutions for the settlement of CPEC project share but PML-N government has turn deaf ears towards addressing the issue. The province was being deprived of an era development on the behest of center government hostile policies which would be resisted on every forum.

“Members of the meeting will submit petition at Peshawar High Court after the preparation of draft and will fight for the right of the province through constitution way” Asad Qasir added.
