Committee formed to achieve ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ in education sector

KARACHI: the provincial school education department has finally notified a ‘provincial committee’ to monitor the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.

The committee will have Special Secretary Schools Aalia Shahid, Head of Curriculum Wing Dr Fouzia Khan, and Chief Program Manager Reform Support Unit Faisal Ahmed Uqaili.

According to sources, the formation of the committee is part of previous activities the department had taken regarding the achievement of SDGs. Sindh had launched Sindh SDG Unit in December 2015 through Planning and Development (P&D) department in collaboration with UNDP.

The newly notified committee will look after the mechanism to achieve universal primary education, build, and upgrade education facilities that are child, disability and gender sensitive, and provide safe, non-violent, inclusive and effective learning environments for all.
