LAHORE: Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana has said that the politics of agitation would damage democracy and the people who want to be in government should adopt a democratic way and strengthen parliament after winning elections.
He was addressing the laptop distribution ceremony at Punjab University’s Faisal Auditorium on Thursday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Higher Education Commission Executive Director Prof Dr Arshad Ali, senior faculty and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Rajwana said that protest was a democratic right but the politics of agitation and resistance had never benefitted any democracy in the world.
“We should not level baseless allegations of corruption against each other for cheap publicity. Rather we should focus on the success of Zarb-e-Azab,” he added.
The governor said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor would prove to be a game changer for the progress of Pakistan and the young people must play their role for the development of the country.
He said that Pakistan was full of talented people and our journey to progress must not stop, adding that the government had launched several schemes to empower youth and utilise their energies.
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said that today’s young people were lucky that they had opened their eyes in the age of internet.
He said that the invention of internet had made access to information and correspondence very easy, adding that the invention of printing machines and publication of books had also played important role in promotion of education.
