ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police ordered to stop Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan from reaching Rawalpindi to attend a rally at Lal Haveli organised by Awami Muslim League (AML) chief MNA Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Friday.
“Deputy Commissioner wrote a letter to IG police and asked him to whatever it takes to ensure that Khan is stopped from reaching Rawalpindi”, a private news channel reported.
A local magistrate attempted to enter Khan’s residence this afternoon to formally put him under house arrest, but the charged PTI supporters did not allow him to go in.
All roads leading to Bani Gala – PTI chief’s residence – have been closed and “large groups of policemen and Frontier Constabulary personnel have been deployed”, the report added.
Party leader Faisal Javed said, “We have a plan b and a plan c. We will announce our plan after some time. People are ready and they cannot stop Imran Khan,” Javed told media.
Some PTI leaders say that Khan has been detained in the house. However, PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen declined the report saying that the government unlawfully restricted Khan’s movements. Nothing has been said in the letter to house-arrest Imran Khan.
PTI sources said that Imran Khan will address a press conference this evening and the party leaders demanded to lift barricades from all roads.
