LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq on Friday said the government was adopting fascist techniques to prevent the sit-in and deny the people right to protest.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of new Gynecology block at Mansoora hospital, he urged the judiciary to take immediate notice of the state oppression and order the release of arrested political workers.

Siraj said that the rulers were repeating the politics of 90s and were inviting civil war. The government was creating hatred for state institutions among the people, he added.

The JI chief was of the view that perhaps the rulers wanted the people to grab them by neck and throw them out. He said that the arrests of political workers and torture of women in PTI’s youth convention was the worst form of state terrorism, he added. Siraj also said the rulers had failed to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities.

He added that health sector was the most neglected and the plight of government hospitals was deplorable. In the federal budget, only Rs 22.4 billion had been allocated for health sector which means that Rs 111 per capita annually. On the other hand, he said, millions were spent from the public exchequer on the minor ailment of the rulers.
