“The minister has set a new history for railways by declaring the passengers as responsible for the inferno … this is absolutely deplorable,” the PPP chairman said in a statement. “The prime minister should recall the promises he had made with the people of the country prior to his taking the office and sack the railways minister forthwith,” he said, and added that the investigations should be transparent and those responsible for the tragedy should be taken to task.
He said that railways accidents, trauma and inferno have become rampant since Sh Rasheed took oath as railways minister. He said he will be visiting Rahim Yar Khan where he will meet the aggrieved families and condole with them.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives in train inferno. He said the Sindh government is fully prepared to extend any sort of cooperation and assistance over the tragic accident.
On CM’s directives, special felicitation desks have been set up in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad so that the aggrieved families might get first-hand information about the measures and arrangements for the affectees.
