ISLAMABAD: The National Press Club on Thursday screened a documentary film based on the mobile video of five girls in Kohistan “who were killed over honour”.

The film titled ‘Unveiled: The Kohistan Video Scandal’ highlighted the victim’s suffering in seeking justice, humanitarian efforts of renowned human rights activist Dr Farzana Bari to take this case to its logical end and phenomenal role of investigative journalist Haseeb Khawaja, jigra’s misogynistic approach and his continuous help to the victim, Afzal Khoistani.

This film is produced by the Digital Warriors Production Canada with the cooperation of Super Channel – Canadian based TV Channel – British-Columbia-Arts-Council, Canada-Media-Fund and Creative-BC and its worldwide distributor Java-Films, a French-based company.

Before the screening of the movie, Haseeb Khawaja, the organiser in Pakistan for Digital Warriors Productions and Java Films, gave a welcome speech. He said, “This film portrays Pakistan’s positive image. I request to people to must watch our documentary, who always keep criticise that foreign community only portrays Pakistan negatively. We have started a campaign across Pakistan for spreading awareness through this documentary film on jirga’s inhuman role regarding women’s so-called honour killings.”

Elizabeth, who is also one of the producers, spoke to the audience through Skype video call. He said, “We want to show the world that Pakistan is not a kind of place where just bad people live, this country is also full of wonderful peaceful progressive people.

In his address, Haseeb Khawaja said, “I will never forget to do the follow up of Kohistan video case and will not let anyone to forget it either. I will keep on highlighting it again and again till it reached to its logical end.”

Besides EU Ambassador Jean Francois Cautian, representatives of different embassies, NGOs, media, United Nations, advocates, and universities has also attended the premiere session of the film.
