ISLAMABAD: Former President Asif Ali Zardari has greeted the Hindus on the occasion of Diwali and called for strengthening interfaith harmony to promote peace in the region.
“I wish to extend on my behalf and on behalf of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) heartiest greetings to the Hindus on the occasion of Diwali,” he said. We also reiterate our commitment – on the occasion – to fight religious apartheid and globally promote interfaith harmony, he added.
The PPP respects and upholds the UN Resolution calling for interfaith harmony. It reaffirms its commitment to safeguard the rights of all minorities in accordance with the teachings of the founder of the nation – Mohammad Ali Jinnah – and the party’s founder – Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
