Multanites will get healthy clean evenings

Multanites will get a clean and healthy environment in the evenings as Multan Solid Waste Management Company (MSWMC) has launched second shift to ensure cleanliness of the city.

Managing Director Waste Management Company Nasir Shehzad Dogar has inaugurated the second shift of cleanliness drive at Jalal Mosque Chowk Multan on Monday

On this occasion MD Nasir Shehzad Dogar said that the initiative was taken on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Multan Amir Khattak on the suggestion of citizens of Multan. He said that the duration of second shift will be from 1pm to 9pm. He said that the purpose of starting this shift is to promote sports and jogging among youth in evening. Now the masses of Multan will have opportunity to visit clean parks and sports grounds in the evenings where they can spend quality time, he added.

He more told that three compactors were allocated for second shift. These compactors will work in the areas of Gulgasht, Gulshan Market and Ghanta Ghar respectively, he added. He said that the main aim behind starting 2nd shifts is to keep the main markets of Multan clean.

MD Nasir Shehzad Dogar more said that special squad of sanitary workers has been constituted for this purpose. Mr. Dogar further said that new trash dumping sites were being searched as the existing landfill sites had got filled. He requested the traders community to cooperate with Multan Solid Waste Management Company to keep the markets clean.

Director Care and Cure, a non-governmental organization, Nasir Mahmood Sheikh appreciated MSWMC for incorporating the suggestion given by civil society. He said that youth has become lethargic due to the increased use of social media. In clean markets, parks and sports grounds, youngsters can play sports as well as interact with other people that will help in development of cognitive thinking because only a healthy body can have a healthy mind, he added.

Manager Operations MSWMC Dawood Makki, Deputy Manager Anwar-ul-Haq and members of Anjuman-e-Tajiraan were also present on this occasion.
