Fear grips city as seven more dengue patients admitted to THQ

DARGAI: Fear has gripped the city as seven more patients infected with Dengue Virus were admitted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital here on Saturday. According to local sources, the fatal viruses of Dengue as well as Malaria have taken its toll on the residents in Sher Garh, Badraga and adjoining areas. Among the dengue infected patients also included a district councillor of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Muhammad Khan Mohmand who has been admitted to THQ Dargai. The THQ Medical Superintendent Dr Kachkol Khan told reporters that two separate wards had been arranged for the dengue infected patients. He added that hospital staff was doing all it could to prevent the disease from spreading and provide the patients with best medical care. The official said that most of the dengue infected patients were coming from Sher Garh area. He urged the residents of the tehsil to keep their houses and surroundings clean to avoid contact with the viral mosquitoes. He also appealed to the people to cover beds with mosquito nets before going to sleep. Similarly, many cases of Malaria have also come to the fore in several other areas including Garhi Usmani Khel union council of the tehsil. According to an estimate, almost every household had a patient in Garhi Usmani Khel, Anar Tangai Banda, Darbu Shah, Saidra Jewar and surrounding areas. The dwellers of the tehsil have appealed to the authorities concerned to take precautionary steps to stop the disease from further spreading.
