LAHORE: Advisor to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Dr Yasmin Rashid has said that time is up for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and no tactic can now save Nawaz Sharif from accountability.

Addressing the party workers before leaving for Islamabad, Dr Yasmin said the masses have had enough of politicians’ corruption. On Monday, prominent PTI leaders from Lahore used different tactics and left for Islamabad to join their Kaptan for lockdown of the capital. MPA Mian Aslam Iqbal used Metro Bus Service (MBS) to avoid his arrest at River Ravi.

PTI Lahore Vice President Semi Bukhari also succeeded in leaving the provincial capital along with her caravan without any arrest. Before starting the journey, the caravan displayed placards and chanted slogans against the government. It is worth mentioning that as many as 200 workers of the party, including Umar Kasana, have reportedly been arrested by the Punjab Police to foil the Islamabad lockdown scheme of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Yasmin said Nawaz Sharif wanted to see Pakistan Army acting as Punjab Police, adding that Nawaz Sharif, and not protests, was the biggest threat to democracy. She said the PTI workers were ready for any kind of sacrifice for the cause of masses’ rights and national security. Meanwhile, former Punjab governor Chaudhry Sarwar has said that corruption of PML-N is tantamount to suicide attack on democracy. Talking to journalists and workers, he said that the PML-N leaders were using force to suppress the voice of masses but they would have to be accountable for their corruption come what may.

Accountability of corrupt rulers and bringing them into sphere of justice is essential for democracy in Pakistan, he said, adding that the PML-N government has shut down Punjab before November 2, as they are aware of PTI’s strength.
