Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Saturday said it has been proved that the march of Maulana Fazlur Rehman is not for the freedom of Kashmir but for the ‘freedom of thieves’.

In a tweet, she said after the conversation of Nawaz Sharif, the real motives of march of Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been revealed. “Maulana is not coming out for the oppressed and the hapless but for protecting the political and financial interests of kings of corruption,” she added.

Dr Firdous said the Kashmiris and the world observe October 27 as black day across the world while Fazl has chosen the day for his march against the government, adding the government is looking into the motives behind this protest call. She said Fazl’s protest call is without any cause, adding Tahirul Qadri staged a sit-in to raise voice against the Model Town killings by Shehbaz Sharif government while Tehreek-e-Labaik protested to safeguard Namoos-e-Risalat. “Fazlur Rehman is protesting to ensure the release of those who have been nabbed by the NAB,” she added.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said the policy of the government over protest call by Maulana Fazlur Rehman is very clear. “Protest is a political right and we have no objection to protest if they follow constitution and decision of Supreme Court of Pakistan,” the minister said in a tweet on Saturday.

The government will hold talks and not allow them to use students of religious institutions for their own agendas, he said, and asserted that there will not be any deal on accountability and no city will be closed.

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed said Fazlur Rehman has been driven into a corner as no consensus has been achieved between him and Shehbaz Sharif so far. He claimed that PML-N supremo has been shifted to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) headquarters for improved [secret] communication with other politicians [for designing next course of action] amid JUI-F’s call for anti-government agitation. He termed the months of October, November and December ‘important’ concerning political unrest in the country.

“On Oct 26, I will uncover Fazlur Rehman’s agenda […] screams will be heard of those who have been talking of [fresh] elections,” the minister said. “Maryam Nawaz has played a critical role in trapping Nawaz Sharif […] now we shall see what Hussain Nawaz has to do.”

Sh Rasheed further revealed that six people have been asking for an NRO from Prime Minister Imran Khan and four of them have been arrested. “Other two will soon be arrested … one of those two belongs to Fazlur Rehman’s party,” he claimed.
