Police on Tuesday baton charged protesting traders after they were stopped from entering the Red Zone in Islamabad. Hundreds of traders had gathered in the capital city against the recent tax reforms presented by the government.

The reforms required protesters to present a copy of their CNICs for the sale and purchase of goods. The protest was organized by the All Pakistan Traders Association.

The protesters demanded the government to fulfil its promise of fixed tax. They that the protest would continue until their demands were met.

But law enforcers rounded up several protesting traders after they refused to budge on their demands. Later, the FBR decided to hold talks with them, but the talks failed to yield any results.
