CM ensures construction of 10,000 classrooms across Punjab schools

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that programme of construction of more than 10,000 additional classrooms has been evolved under the Khadim-e-Punjab Schools Programme, which would start from southern Punjab and would be implemented in phases.

Presiding over a high level meeting regarding Khadim-e-Punjab Schools Programme on Thursday, he said that due to this programme, students would avail better educational facilities and would be motivated towards their studies. The meeting reviewed progress of different matters of the programme and gave formal approval to the design of additional classrooms.

Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that future of the country is linked with education and training of the youth, adding that Punjab government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the improvement of educational programme in the province. He said that Khadim-e-Punjab Schools Programme is a splendid example of spending resources of the nation on the youth of the country. “This programme will be unprecedented with regard to transparency and quality,” he added. Shahbaz said that committees are being constituted at district and division level to ensure quality and speed of the work, adding that missing facilities would be made available in those schools where additional classrooms are being constructed. Provincial Ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmad, Tanvir Aslam Malik and Ayesha Ghaus participated in the meeting.

Meanwhile, American Consul General Yuriy Fedkiw met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday. Matters of mutual interest, promotion of Pak-American relations and enhancing cooperation in different sectors were discussed during the meeting.

Talking to the American consul general, the chief minister lauded the friendly relations between Pakistan and America. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, government has achieved prominent successes in various sectors during the last three and a half years,” Shahbaz claimed.

He said that speedy work is being carried out on different projects including energy projects and fruits of their completion would soon reach the people. Shahbaz said that the entire nation is united for eliminating terrorism and Pak Army, people and other law enforcement agencies have rendered unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terrorism. The chief minister expressed hope that Pak-America relations would further strengthen in the coming days.
