GHOTKI: While criticising the policies of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to present himself for accountability. While addressing a public gathering in Daharki area of Ghotki district on Friday, Bilawal said the premier would have to present himself for accountability and “accountability needs to be democratic”.

The PPP chief made it clear that he was not accusing the prime minister of corruption; the evidence showed in the Panama Papers unearthed his corruption. He said the policies of the PML-N government were the worst in the history of the country, adding that the same policies had divided the nation. “We need the people to unite, but Nawaz Sharif, your flawed policies have divided the people,” he said.

The PPP chairman reminded the prime minister that the premier was not a monarch, nor was Raiwind the throne of Pakistan. “Pakistan is a democracy, not a monarchy. You are a prime minister and not a king.”

Bilawal also asked why the inquiry report had not been made public after attacks on national institutions. “You (Nawaz) will have to answer the people, you have never answered the people,” he added. Bilawal said that development schemes should be transparent and without controversies. He also criticise Nawaz Sharif for his “friendship wit Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi”. “We do not know what benefit you get by being friends with Modi?” The PPP chairman said he wanted to neutralise “Modi’s conspiracy against Pakistan”.
