Author: Laiba Mir

Monsoon season in Karachi does not seem to settle down anytime soon with the constant downpour and the simultaneous rise in the reported dengue cases going up to an alarming 10,000 also can’t be ignored. Mortein took action immediately and initiated a dengue awareness drive “Dengue Ab Nahi” all across Pakistan. Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre, Indus Hospital and Sindh Government Hospital had informative panaflex along with kiosks set up, where the volunteers were giving out free Mortein Spray Bottles along with dengue awareness pamphlets.

Mortein has proven to be a quick, simple and effective solution to keep these stingers at bay. It is advised to stock it up for the unpredictable season. In addition, where all the remedies are being taken into account, some of the basic things one can work on an individual level include, spraying pesticides, making sure there is no stagnant water piling up and reduce wastage that adds to it all.

As of recent, Reckitt Benkiser took this matter forward and held a press conference at Indus Hospital where the sought after panellists discussed the problem at hand ie the dengue outbreak. The speakers present at the event included Indus Hospital Infectious Diseases Head Dr Naseem Salahuddin and Reckitt Benkiser Pakistan Hygiene Home Country Manager Akbar Ali Shah. The main agenda of this conference was to make the audience aware of the rising numbers of reported dengue cases and the preventive measures that can be taken in account that should be worked on immediately. It’s time we learn about these precautions, educate and beware others to tackle the problem at hand. Stay safe and enjoy the rain!
