ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday accused the Islamabad and Punjab police for subjecting his party’s workers to extreme torture during their five-day detention at Adiala Jail.
In a statement on Twitter, Khan said he met with 20 PTI workers – who were arrested by the police as they came from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to join his protest in Islamabad.
“I just met 20 PTI youth from KP, picked up by police in Islamabad– where they had come on my call. They were thrown in Adiala without any cause,” Khan said.
He said they were thrown in death cells at Adiala Jail while 10 of them were kept in a cell with an open toilet. They were subjected to extreme torture for 5 days and the boys had their cell phones and money taken away by the police, Khan said.
Khan said that the PTI workers were only released after his ‘Thanksgiving’ rally ended. “This is PML-N’s democracy,” the PTI chief said.
“I hold Nawaz Sharif, Shabaz Sharif, ChaudhryNisar Ali and both federal and provincial police responsible for this fascism of the worst kind inflicted on our youth,” he concluded.
