LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami (JI) Amir, Senator Sirajul Haq said that the government is using dilatory tactics and it has prolonged the Panama Leaks case by not presenting complete documents as usual in the Supreme Court (SC).

“The faces of the rulers have turned pale and the words are not assisting them. Government prolonged the case by not filing documents in the SC as usual. Government is using delaying tactics. Government should present all the documents in the court as per court’s orders”, he said this while talking to media men here on Monday.

He went on to say that people want success of legal fight against corruption. It is voice of their hearts that corrupt elements are brought to justice, he added. It is JI stance that all should be held accountable; he said adding that this is also the slogan of people.

An effective mechanism is required to be put in place for weeding out corruption from the country, he underlined. We have moved the court for this purpose. The institutions have been paralysed due to corruption. This is the reason that no institution has taken any action on Panama Papers matter despite lapse of 8 months, he observed.

He observed Pakistan earned bad name in the comity of nations due to corruption, he said. Government wasted 8 months of the nation, he added. One section of society is opposed to accountability and is sabotaging the efforts aimed at carrying out accountability process, he stated. This class is all out to quell the voice of “Ehtesab sab ka ho”.

He underscored that former Director General National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said that corruption of 12 billion rupees is being committed in Pakistan daily. Then why NAB has not taken action on it. NAB’s duty is not only to provide information about corruption but also to take action against corruption and corrupt elements, he added.
