This unique, fresh and progressive piece is made by the writer and director duo behind the blockbuster “Sang-e-Marmar”, Mustafa Afridi and Saif e Hassan. Titled as “Ehd-e-Wafa, this ISPR production released its first episode on the 22nd of September and will continue to air on Sundays during prime time on HUM TV.
‘Ehd-e-Wafa’, having some of the chocolate heroes and young heroines in its cast coupled with veteran actors and top models from the yesteryears, is a story of four mischievous cadet college students who have made up a gang, partly owing to their deep friendship and partly because of the fact that all of those friends’ names start off with the letter S. These four energetic beings are not ready to surrender to the priggish attitudes of the Army and keep pulling off pranks, unfortunately getting caught most of the times.
Two parallel stories that ran in the first episode were of two female college students as well, one hailing from the city and the other from a village. The episode shown one of them visiting Murree along with her parents and the other one getting caught while cheating during exam and taking the scolding as a wound upon her self-respect, turning her into a multi-layered, interesting character.
Apart from these tales which have already made us curious regarding their development in the coming episodes, “Ehd-e-Wafa gives us a very bright and pleasing look, as if high quality camera work has been used. Some of the aerial views of the mountains of Murree were too good to digest, adding aesthetic beauty to the piece that has introduced itself as a comic one.

The most beautiful aspect of the serial is that while it has both male and female young actors who are attractive, it does not present them as glamorous. They are relatable characters who can tire after college, who can cheat in exams, who can sing in the class, who can turn out to be ruffians, and most important of all, who can take more interest in their student life and less interest in their future partners to be. This makes “Ehd-e-Wafa” a treat not only for the elders who have Captain Faraz and Vaneeza Ahmad as their points of interest in the serial, but also for the college and university going students who can watch Ahad Raza Mir, Wahaj Ali, Osman Khalid Butt, Ahmad Ali Akbar, Zara Noor Abbas and Alizey Shah and in roles with which they can relate.
Mustafa Afridi has never failed to inspire us with his words and Saife Hassan has shown an interest in direction equal to that in acting. This time too, both of them have left us speechless. We hope that this serial continues to remain as good as it was in its first episode and make our Sundays finally special and light after many years of tragic serials.
