Education Department to fill 4,960 vacant posts

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Education Department will fill 4,960 vacant posts in different categories across the Punjab, including Rawalpindi Division.

The Punjab Education Department had earlier announced that there were 4,960 post lying vacant in various areas. The staff will be hired on around 162 vacant seats across the Rawalpindi Division. There are posts of 1,530 assistant education officers, 2,805 secondary school teachers, 700 education officers, 35 data entry operators and 70 drivers.

The Punjab Education Department has directed the authorities to complete recruitment process till July 30 in the all categories. The decision has been taken to deal with the prevailing staff shortage in the education department. Earlier, teachers’ unions had urged the government to deal with the staff shortage in public sector schools and colleges. They had said that this was vital to improve the performance of these institutes.

Eid vacations: Boys and girls degree colleges located in Rawalpindi Division will remain on high-alert during the Eid vacations to deal with any untoward incident.

The Punjab Higher Education Department special secretary directed the authorities to make foolproof security measures around the boys and girls colleges located in Rawalpindi Division. He directed the administration to cancel the holidays of security personnel. The Rawalpindi Division Colleges deputy director was asked to review the security of all colleges.

According to sources, these initiatives have been taken in the wake of security threats issued by intelligence agencies. The country has witnessed a number of deadly terrorist attacks at the end of the holy month of Ramazan that targeted major cities, such as Quetta and Karachi.
