KARACHI: Around 9,135 policemen have been deployed for performing special duties at 4,341 worship places, including masajid, Jamaat Khanas and Imambargahs on the three days of Eid to maintain the law and order situation in the city.
IG Sindh, Allah Dino Khawaja, has ordered strict security measures for Eid and directed city’s SHOs to remain in close coordination with their respective districts’ wireless control rooms to ensure security in their jurisdictions.
According to a statement issued by the Central Police Office, around 9,135 policemen will be performing special duties on the three days of Eid to maintain the law and order situation in the city. Other than this deployment, personnel from six platoons of the Rapid Response Force and reserve force from district headquarters will also be on duty.
The statement said that there are 4,341 worship places in three zones of the city including East, West and South and all these places will go through sweeping and clearance before any congregations meeting.
Chairing a meeting at the CPO, the IG directed the officials that patrolling, snap-checking and other security measures should be taken and no duty point should be left unattended. He also directed the traffic police to ensure smooth running of traffic on roads during Eid.
It is pertinent to mention that during last month a significant rise in street crimes was seen in metropolis including all five districts – district East, West, South, Malir and Korangi.
