KARACHI: The investigators remain clueless about the attackers responsible for the deadly attack on the police personnel in Karachi despite the laps of four days.
A police mobile officer, mobile van driver and two constables were shot dead when gunmen riding at least two motorcycles targeted the four cops of the SITE A Section police station at a roadside hotel when they were having iftar on Friday evening.
According to the investigation it was apparently a pre-planned attack as these cops were visiting the same hotel from the few days and they were targeted and killed after a proper monitoring.
The officer said that the investigators were also obtaining CCTV footages of the cameras installed around the crime scene.
Besides, camera footages, the investigators have also recorded the statements of nearly a dozen witnesses including the hotel staff as part of the investigation.
Investigators said that the group has similarities with those involved in the previous major terror activities in Karachi. “This group has similarities with the groups associated with Daesh and Al-Qaeda like Saad Aziz Group involved in Safoora Goth carnage. Similar modus operandi in nearly 37 major terrorism cases has been employed,” a senior anti-terrorism officer observed.
The investigators also decided to interrogate the terrorists already arrested in major high profile cases including Saad Aziz group and Asim Capri and Ishaq Bobby arrested by CTD police over assassination of Qawwali maestro Amjad Sabri to get any link to the terrorists involved in the recent unsolved cases of terrorism including a targeted killing of retired military officer at Baloch Colony flyover and police mobile van attack at Doraji Society.
