NEW YORK: Celebrities Jon Bon Jovi and Lady Gaga shared the stage with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton on the eve of the presidential election, incurring strong criticism from Republican candidate Donald Trump. Mrs Clinton’s rallies in the last week had also featured singer Beyonce and her rapper husband Jay Z. Earlier, Katy Perry and Jennifer Lopez also attended her rallies. The celebrities urged their fans and followers to vote for Mrs Clinton while enthralling the audience with music.

On the contrary, Mr Trump decided not to invite any famous Hollywood star to share the stage with him in order to woo the voters. “We can get stars. We don’t need them because we just want to make America great again and we know what to do, right? We don’t need that,” he told supporters.

Referring to Mrs Clinton’s strategy of inviting celebrities to her rallies, he questioned: “That’s almost like a form of cheating, right?” He boasted that he did not need stars to fill his venues in the closing days of the presidential race. The Democrat’s campaign has hosted a number of free concerts to cheer up their voters and attract others. Rocker Bon Jovi and singer Ne-Yo rallied voters in North Carolina. Famous singer/actress Jennifer Lopez took the stage in Miami and singer Stevie Wonder performed in Philadelphia.

“I didn’t have to bring J-Lo or Jay Z,” Trump told a crowded rally in Pennsylvania last week. “I am here all by myself. Just me. No guitar, no piano, no nothing.”
