PESHAWAR: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to extend Municipal Services Programme to the cities of DI Khan, Mingora and Dir to improve and rehabilitate sewerage system, tube-wells and replacement of rusted pipes.
The project which will cost Rs 1.25 billion and will be completed in September 2018.The decision was taken in a meeting headed by Senior Minister for Local Government & Rural Development Department Inayatullah in Peshawar on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Project Director Municipal Services Programme Riaz Mehsood, Chief executive officer Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar, Mingora, Dir and DI Khan, Tehsil Municipal Officers of DI Khan, Mingora, Dir, DI Khan and other concerned officers.
While briefing the meeting, Riaz Mehsood said that consultant has been hired for this purpose which will collect data, conduct survey and will prepare summary. He added that under this project, primary & secondary drains will be constructed and feasible in Nine Union Councils in Urban areas of Mingora, namely Rahimabad, Gul Kada, Malakaman Landay kas, Saidan, Amankot, Rang Mohallah, Malook abad, Shahdara Nawa Kally, Banr.
Similarly fifty two tube wells will be improved and rehabilitated while rusted and leaked pipes in Mingora city will be replaced. These three projects will cost one thousand million rupees. He further added that primary & secondary Drains and 14 tube wells in eight Union Councils of DI Khan city would be rehabilitated. The rusted and leaked pipes will also be replaced and will cost 800 million rupees.
He said that sewerage system of Dir city would also be constructed and rehabilitated, he added that water treatment plants would be installed and gravity based water supply system would be improved and extended to Dir city. He said that rusted and leaked water pipes would be replaced and would extend to unserved areas of Dir city.
Senior Minister for local government and rural development department Inayatullah said that under the umbrella of MSP 147699 meters drains had been cleaned, 26000 meters water supply pipes had been rehabilitated, 22 blocked public toilets and 71250 meters drains had been rehabilitated which has cost more than 5000 million.
