Country not safe under incumbent rulers: Siraj

Author: Staff Report

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the ruling ‘junta’ in the country did not mend its ways even after losing half of Pakistan of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, while the remaining country is also not safe from their exploitation.

He was talking to the media at the mausoleum of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal after offering Fateha there on the 139th birthday of the poet, who conceived the idea of Pakistan. He was accompanied by JI Deputy Secretary General Muhammad Asghar, JI Punjab chief Mian Maqsood Ahmed, JI Information Secretary Amirul Azeem and JI Lahore chief Zikrullah Mujahid.

Speaking on the occasion, Siraj said it was the height of ungratefulness that the rulers had not raised a single voice in support of the JI leaders in Bangladesh who had embraced martyrdom for their love of the Pakistan ideology.

He declared that the JI, after coming into power, would make Pakistan an Islamic and prosperous country according to the vision of the founding fathers by getting rid of the corrupt ruling elite.

The JI chief said that Pakistan lost its eastern wing due to economic, political and ideological corruption of the ruling circle. He said that those who had betrayed the Pakistan ideology were the real villains who caused the dismemberment of the country only to serve their personal ends. He said that the Pakistan Resolution had been moved by great Bengali leader Fazle Haq, and the Bengalis had offered huge sacrifices for the establishment of Pakistan, but the rulers had deprived the country of both its ideology and geography.

Siraj said that a corruption-free Pakistan was necessary to safeguard the country’s ideology and geography, which was free from tyranny and where the common man could lead a respectable life. He said that Panama leaks case was the continuation of corruption, adding that the JI was the first one to raise its voice against the evil. He said that the families and the names mentioned in the Panama leaks were known to the entire nation, and all of them would be held accountable.
