‘Climate March’ tomorrow to raise issue of environmental degradation

A number of activists hailing from parts of the country will hold a “Climate March” tomorrow (Friday) to draw the attention of the masses towards the pressing issue of climate change causing environmental degradation in the region.

The march is organised by the activities of multiple social organisations collectively. The participants will be gathered outside National Press Club at 3pm and will later move towards D-Chowk. Talking to Daily Times, Shahid Kazmi – Country Director, Pakistan Humanitarian Forum – said, Climate March is totally a nonpolitical political activity with an aim to raise the awareness among the society and to bring the attention of the Government to take serious measure to tackle the severe impacts of climate change in Pakistan. He added, all the arrangement regarding the march are finalized and a large number civil society members, students, lawyers, journalists and others are expected to participate in March.

Political workers along with their leaders are also expected to participate in the march but flag/banner of any political party will not be allowed in the march, Shahid maintained.

Activists will also hold March in Quetta, Karachi, Lahore, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other major cities across the country.
