ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali has said that bench and bar were integral part of judicial system and it was incumbent upon both of them to address legal needs and expectations of litigant parties.
Talking to outgoing members of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) headed by Barrister Ali Zafar and newly elected body of SCBA headed by its President Rasheed A Rizvi, who called on the chief justice on Friday at the Supreme Court building, the chief justice said, “It is indeed a matter of great pleasure to welcome all of you as newly elected and outgoing cabinet.”
Bidding farewell to outgoing SCBA President Ali Zafar and his cabinet members, the chief justice lauded the services rendered by them and said that the SCBA under Ali Zafar had performed very well. “All the members of his cabinet played their role devotedly and wholeheartedly for the cause of dispensation of justice,” he said.
Felicitating SCBA President Rasheed A Rizvi, the chief justice assured the newly elected body of cooperation for strengthening the institution of judiciary.
The newly elected SCBA president Rasheed A Rizvi said that he and his cabinet would cooperate to strengthen the institution by supporting rule of law and independence of judiciary.
At the end of the meeting, the chief justice presented a shield to the outgoing cabinet members as a goodwill gesture. They also reciprocated by presenting a memento on the occasion.
