Gold smuggling attempt foiled

KHYBER AGENCY: Authorities at Torkham border foiled yet another attempt of smuggling gold from Afghanistan and arrested the peddler, sources said on Friday. The sources said that during routine checking custom officials recovered 1,176 grams of gold from a handcart. The gold was concealed in fruit carton being smuggled from Afghanistan. The smuggler, identified as Said Akbar was also arrested. The persons involved in smuggling of different commodities, including the precious metal use different means and methods to dodge the Khasadars and Customs officials at the Pak-Afghan border at Torkham.
