HYDERABAD: The management of Shah Murad Sugar Mills, Laar Sugar Mills and Deewan Sugar Mills, have disregarded Sindh government’s order that complies all sugar mills of the province to start crushing season from Nov14 and have not even arranged for it nor have they set their boilers ready for crushing. Sugar mills have also not issued indents to growers for supply of sugarcane. Growers of Syed Akbar Shah Jamot, Parkashmal, Shabbir Shah, Nawaz Soomro and other areas have recorded their protest before newsmen that this, like earlier years they were being treated unethically by mill owners and government. They said that growers were also suffering huge financial losses due to late supply of sugarcane to mills and they were also not being paid due rate for against sugarcane supply in accordance with inflation and price hike. Mill owners, in connivance with government were attempting to start mills late so that they can dictate their terms of supply and rate, they added demanding that authorities concerned should direct mill owners to start crushing season on time so that the growers could be saved from financial loss.
