7.4 magnitude quake jolts Pak cricket team in NZ

NELSON: Visiting Pakistan cricket team to come out of their hotel to the safety of an open area on Sunday as earthquake in New Zealand shook the entire city.

A 7.4 magnitude earthquake sent shivers throughout the city and forcing the Pakistan cricket team to evacuate their hotel. The quake was 11 kilometres deep and the originated from Christchurch.

Panic spread around the entire city but no loss of life was reported. The Pakistan women’s cricket team – who were also staying in a hotel – also came out when the tremors were felt.

The first Test match between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played at Hagley Oval on November 17.
