Fine-dining restaurant turns two, updates winter menu

LAHORE: The fine-dining restaurant in Gulberg, launched two years back, made its presence felt among various notable circles, the moment it opened its doors.

Rumoured to host the elite and the dignitaries mainly, The Lahore Social has never seen a dull day in the food business. Nestled right below famous bookstore The Last Word, this fine-dining eating space celebrated its second-year anniversary on Thursday by inviting over eminent members of the TV industry and media as well as prominent socialites.

The celebrations began by the restaurant introducing an updated menu and a revamped look of their interiors through a dinner held at their premises.

We tried their Soup of the Day along with the newly-introduced Caprese Salad, which was priced at Rs 895. The fresh-cut salad was served with Buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes and rocket leaves. From their Shared Beginnings section, we opted for the Social’s Favourite Chicken Platter priced the same as the salad we had. Now that was definitely something rich and opulent. The platter consisted of chicken cheese croquettes, chicken wing poppers and cheesy chicken potato skins. Just how the Lahoris like their food – lavish and in abundance!

For our main course we went for the Seafood section, our main aim to enjoy the seafood season as much as we can. So Grilled Jumbo Prawns were next on our list – this pricey meal cost Rs 1,895 was worth every bite we had. Marinated with lemon butter sauce and sautéed vegetables, the meal might be a bit tricky to have with your knife and folk but feels divine on your tastebuds. With most Lahoris being prawn lovers, this newest addition to The Lahore Social’s menu is cooked to perfection. We gorged all these delicacies down with their special Lemonade.

There are two additions in their Desserts section – Aalia’s Fruit Cobbler priced at Rs 595 and Social’s Chocolate Log priced a little higher at Rs 645. We tried the log and find it worthy of a special mention. Its presentation before we tasted it, did all the talking. The log was topped with a surprise crunch and served with crème anglaise. Served on top of a biscuit layer, the chocolate log entertained our sweet tooth like no other.

Other additions to the updated winter menu are the Tenderloin Steak in the Red Meat section, priced at Rs 1,195. It’s served with two sides and a sauce of your choice.

In the Between Two Sides section, there’s a Social Club Sandwich, served with chicken, roast beef and horseradish mayo with coleslaw. It’s priced at Rs 695. For the pizza lovers, there is Smoked Chicken in their Thin Crust Pizza section, priced at Rs 795. This fabulously done pizza is topped with mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and roasted peppers.

For the pasta lovers, there is Chef’s Signature Tortellini served with three cheeses and mushroom sauce, made available at Rs 795. The Lahore Social has a little something for the chicken lovers too in the form of Nasreen’s Famous Slow Roasted Chicken priced at Rs 995. It’s cooked in a rustic sauce with a side of your choice.

There is something for everyone with The Lahore Social’s newest menu and if you see for yourself, even the prices are nominal. We love how some dishes are named after people as a form of gratitude and remembrance. Also did we mention the amazing outdoors dining experience as the season calls for it?

The Lahore Social was launched with a simple vision “Great food, good company” and since its inception has earned itself a reputation resonating with quality food and impeccable service in the restaurant industry.

“As part of our second year celebrations, we have revamped the restaurant look and added comfort food to our menu. We wanted to stay true to the concept of fine dining but comfort food is what our customers wanted and we thrive to better our restaurant for our guests. We have held on to some of our old favourites but added our versions of new sandwiches, burgers, sharing platters and delectable desserts. We are confident that you will fall in love with the new The Lahore Social and keep on coming back for more. As we grow, we will introduce seasonal and weekend specials with the hope that our patrons will not only love what we have done but also support us to make all these changes a success,” Natasha Monnoo and Sohail Salahuddin from The Lahore Social management said while sharing love for the patrons.
