The screening ceremony of a documentary titled “The Pledge of Iron Brothers” was held here to show growing people to people contacts over the years.

Ambassador of Pakistan Naghmana Hashmi was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

While delivering a speech, Hashmi said China and Pakistan have stood by and supported each other, no matter how the world political landscape changes, and she reckoned the reason behind – closed people-to-people contact between the two countries. Hailing the positive changes taken place in Pakistan since the launch of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Hashmi said the people who make contributions to the mega project should be valued and appreciated.

In memory of the friendship between China and Pakistan, the documentary dates back to the period of the Ancient Silk Road when trade and human exchanges between the two countries begun and lasted until today. It records the crucial moments of the visits between leaders of two countries after the establishment of the diplomatic relations, and presents how Pakistani economy and society have benefited from the CPEC projects, which in turn fuels the mutual affection between Chinese and Pakistanis.

The documentary was produced by Islamabad based English language newspaper The Daily Mail and Pakistan China Media Friendship Association. In an interview with China Economic Net, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Mail Makhdoom Babar said the documentary was a tribute to those individuals who have been putting all out efforts to bring people from China and Pakistan closer over the last 70 years.

“The Daily Mail had covered 2 pages of news related to China since 2004,” Makhdoom informed the reporter, “we further expanded the content to include reports on CPEC, Belt and Road Initiative, China-Pakistan trade cooperation and people-to-people contact after CPEC was launched.” He added.

When asked about his future plan to promote the bond between the two countries, he hinted there would be 2 more documentaries, one would be about China-Pakistan tourism, and would be another ordinary people making contributions to Pak-China friendship.

The ambassador appreciated the efforts of Mr. Makhdoom Babar and his team for taking this initiative towards enhancing people to people contacts and thanked all those who contributed in the making of this documentary. She also presented Certificates of Commendation to the Chinese media for their efforts in portraying a positive narrative, reports China Economic Net.
