Tea party ordered for sanitary workers

The secretary of Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) has directed the heads of all municipalities to arrange a tea party in the honour of sanitary workers.

According to a notification, the chief officers of all the municipal corporations, district councils and municipal committees will arrange ‘a cup of tea’ programme with the sanitary workers of their respective municipalities and give them orange vests.

Head of the municipalities are also directed to plan a campaign making the people realize how important these in orange vest.

“Think on these lines and we should bring dignity in the eyes of the common man for our people in orange vest”, further stated in the notification.

It is stated that human is with health, health is with hygiene, hygiene is with sanitation and they are sanitary workers.

Ghulam Muhammad Naz – Chairman, All Pakistan Local Government Workers Federation (APLGWF) – appraised that directives and said that having a cup of tea with the sanitary workers will bring dignity in the eyes of the public for them but the secretary should also withdraw his decision regarding the ban on recruitment of the daily wage employees. He added that having tea party was meaningless if they didn’t have their jobs.
