Kashmir — the land of beauty shrouded in blood!

Author: Beenish Mahmood

In a joint effort on part of the topmost singers/musicians of the new generation: Atif Aslam and Farhan Saeed took each other’s hand to raise their voice for the bleeding valley of Kashmir through a creative expression in the form of music.

The song is from the film Half Girlfriend released in January 2013 sung in collaboration with Shreya Ghonsla, an Indian singer. Produced by Farhaan Saeed & ISPR (Inter Services Public Relations: media wing for army) and directed by Qasim Ali Mureed.

Married to actress Urwa Hocane, Farhan Saeed began his singing career in Bollywood in 2014 with the song “Naam-e-Wafa”.

“Tu Thorri Dair Aur Thehr Jaa” gives a strong message. As a soldier/freedom fighter to save Kashmir from the brutalities and cold-blooded murders which the Kashmiris experience at the hand of the Indian troops, Farhan Saeed in the role of a soldier comes forward to give his life to safeguard the masses who die every day in the most ruthless manner!

‘Tu Thorri Dair Aur Thehr Jaa’ gives a strong message. As the newly wedded wife says goodbye to her husband on the wedding night, the video beautifully captures the heart ache of both the mother and wife as they wait endlessly forhis return. The lyrics are a tender poetic expression for the longing in the heart of the beloved.

In the video, one sees the grief and sorrow of the mother & wife of the departed soul. It brings tears to my eyes as my heart melts and warms itself to pay tribute to all “unsung national hero.” Whether the wait proves futile or fruitful, is something I will not reveal.

A song sung by Atif Aslam, composed by Sahir Ali Bhagga and with lyrics by Imran Raza goes like:

Pyaar hai humey Pyar hai,

(We Love our country, Pakistan)

Pakistan Sai, DilJaan Se

(With all our heart)

Whilst the video was more emotional and tragic here the spirit and enthusiasm in this song is celebratory. The fervour and zeal of the youth is shown here how they shoot fireworks in the air, wave the flag of Pakistan with vigour, create posters and banners and give revolutionary speeches to save the “wadi” from destruction.

Long live Kashmir! A round of applause for the freedom of expression on behalf of anyone – be it a musician, singer, playwright, literature lover or a simpleton!
