City police all set to implement security plan for Muharram

A comprehensive security plan for Muharramul Haram has been issued on the directives of City Police Officer Muhammad Zubair Dareshak.

A total of 486 processions will be taken out in Multan city. Out of these processions 101 are of “A” category and rest are of “B” category. As many as 1,561 religious gatherings (majalis) will be arranged in Multan city, of which 1,184 fall in “B” category. Moreover, three points in the city have been declared sensitive.

To ensure foolproof security, over 4,293 police personnel are deputed who will perform their duties in various shifts. A special squad has been constituted under the supervision of CPO Muhammad Zubair Dareshak. This special squad has been assigned the job of search operations. CPO told that other than that special teams have been constituted at the sub-division level. These teams will conduct search operations at the routes of processions, Imambargahs, general bus stands and railway stations. Through Special Branch and sniffer dogs the areas will be searched. Technical cameras will also be fixed on all important points of the city. Sweeping and monitoring of all processions and religious gatherings will be done through CCTV cameras. He further said that a control room will be set up for the monitoring of CCTV cameras where the video coverage of all processions and majalis will be telecasted. He further told that walk through gates would be set up on the entry and exit points of all important religious gatherings.

CPO Multan told that personnel from special branch, Rescue 1122, PTCL, SNGPL, WAPDA, volunteers and civil defence will assist police in maintaining the security of processions. CPO Multan told that he will personally monitor all the security arrangements. SSP investigations Multan Rabnawaz Talla and SSP operations Multan Muhammad Kashif Aslam will be the incharge of city division and district respectively. All the divisional SPs will be the incharge of their respective divisions.

Core management committees at the level of police stations have been constituted under the supervision of City Police Officer Multan and SSP operations Multan. These committees include members of peace committees, traders and civil society representatives. Police, Army, rangers and Elite force will patrol the city to avoid any untoward incident.

City Police Officer Multan Muhammad Zubair Dareshak directed all the DPOs and SHO’s to monitor the security situation of all processions from 1st to 10th Muharramul Haram. He directed that display of weapons, pillion riding, posters, pamphlets and use of loud speaker will be banned. He directed to arrest and take strict action against the violators.
