‘Saaho’ grosses Rs 100 crore; records the second-highest all-time opening

After a gap of two years since his last film ‘Baahubali – The Conclusion’ released, Prabhas hit the screens with a bang this time again with the out-and-out action thriller ‘Saaho’.

The film which stars Shraddha Kapoor in the female lead is laced with never seen before action sequences curated by international talents that promises an edge of the seat thriller. Despite mixed reviews, the film has the audience flocking into the theatres.

‘Saaho’ has managed to cross the Rs 100 crore gross mark as the collections of the Hindi version came in a little higher on the opening day. As per the report on Boxofficeindia.com, the film raked in Rs 88 crore nett and Rs 101 crore gross on the first day which makes it the second film after ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ to hit the Rs 100 crore gross mark on day one.

The film is around Rs 50 crore short of ‘Baahubali — The Conclusion’ which holds the top spot. However, the Prabhas starrer is better positioned, around Rs 30 crore ahead of the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer ‘2.0’

‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ collected around Rs 150 crore gross on its opening day at the box office. The film was riding on a huge appreciation following its blockbuster first installment – ‘Baahubali: The Begining.’ The S.S. Rajamouli directorial starred Prabhas in the lead role.

On the other hand, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer ‘2.0’ which hits the screens late last year collected around Rs 71.12 crore gross on its opening day. The film high on VFX and graphics had the factor of popular superstars in it which pushed the collections.

‘Saaho’ hit the screens in four languages – Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, and Malayalam. The film was primarily shot in Telegu with some portions in Hindi.

Written and directed by Sujeeth, the film also features Neil Nitin Mukesh, Arun Vijay, Chunky Pandey, Jackie Shroff, Mahesh Manjrekar, Mandira Bedi, Evelyn Sharma, and Vennela Kishore in significant roles. ‘Saaho’ hit the screens on August 30.
