LHC bars LDA from ‘illegal’ construction in J-1 Johar Town

Author: News Desk

Last Wednesday, in violation of constitutional property rights, the LDA staff forced entry into properties of several landowners in the J-1 Johar Town area without any notice or legal disclosure for construction of a road that is alleged to benefit a plaza owned by a renowned media anchor.

It may further be noted that the anchorperson has been seen on the site multiple times, even directing LDA in their illegal destruction activities.

Furthermore, at a time when there is widespread govt action for the plantation of trees and afforestation activities, LDA has destroyed plantation of approx 200 trees and plants that the residents had planted over the last many decades.

Property owners have initiated writ petitions at the Lahore High Court (LHC) and LDA has been restrained from further action w.e.f. 27.08.19 and notified to appear in case proceedings.
