Officials get warning over negligence in polio vaccination

SHIKARPUR: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Javed Ahmed Shaikh, in a meeting convened by District Polio Eradication Committee on Thursday, has reprimanded health officials of Shikarpur for their negligence in administering anti-police drops to children of union council 1 and 7.

In a statement, the Information Department said that ADC has strongly criticised the performance of the Health Department and questioned that why they did not take action against those who neglected the task of vaccinating children in aforementioned UCs. He also issued strict instructions to the District Health Officer to make the vaccination mandatory, polio cell in-charge Dr Siraj Ahmed Memon said. International monitors had found many children, who were not vaccinated during the previous round of the anti-police drive in these UCs, due to which the performance of the health officials was found unsatisfactory, he added.
